Journal for 21-Jun-2003 : Casino |
---|
Good quiet road to Casino today. Lots of regrowth forest scenery and not much else. Quite a few undulations as well. Not as steep as yesterday, but we rode them slower. I guess this is our 4th day of riding in a row (shock horror), so it should be expected. The early light rain (not enough to get us wet) didn't improve the motivation. Having said that it fined up into a beautiful sunny day but we still weren't motivated.
There is a decent rest area near the Ellangowan State Forest a good spot to crash while watching the headwinds stiffen. Lots of other people stopped to give their dogs and/or kids a break. One family was carrying a horse drawn wagon on the back of their trailer, just in case they found a stray horse I suppose. Neither the kids nor the pets were keen on getting back in the car to continue the driving. We found it even harder to get back on the bikes, at least until a dark cloud obscured the sun.
Pulled over by the Casino Police. I hadn't done anything wrong (I don't think), they just stopped for a chat.
More nice forest riding to the town of Casino. Casino is pretty much like most NSW towns, but without the beaches. Went down town to see the hot Saturday night action at the RSL, and came away with full stomaches and an excellent insight into the game of Keno.
