Journal for 22-Jun-2003 : Lismore |
---|
This was supposed to be a short day, but it took a long time to get to Lismore. After a cool morning we rode over Noughton's Gap. Halfway down the hill we found an injured wallaby (broken leg). After much effort and failed attempts to get help at a nearby farmhouse, we ended up cycling back to the top of the hill (to get mobile phone signal) and eventually reached WIRES. Help was promised, but in the end the Police were sent to euthanase the poor bugger.
So after cycling over the Noughton's gap climb twice, we rode on to Lismore.
Lismore's street poles are decorated with flood height banners recording the heights of previous floods. None below head height.
