Journal for 31-Jan-2004 : Ranfurly |
---|
Rained all night, and it was wet but drying as we left town.
Lots of undulations as we climbed through the small little towns of Omakau, Lauder, Becks, that in most cases are just a pub.
Fantastic barren Otargo scenery. Strong Scottish influence in the names of the localities: Idaburn, Wedderburn, Lambburn (not a burnt roast) etc. Same with the local's accents: they really r'd'roll their r'd'r's.
The final climb across Rough Ridge mountain range took forever, and we were greeted with a stiff headwind and exposed moors to ride across.
