Journal for 27-July-2004 : Val-d'Or |
---|
Left fairly early without a cloud in the sky with no wind and relatively little traffic on the highway. We had to get off the road four times in the first K.
Road widened up as we entered Val-d'Or, which seemed to stretch for miles out into the forest. We arrived too early to do anything much, so we sat in a small town park where I sewed up my disintegrating cycling gloves while we listened to the community music broadcast. Not surprisingly country music does not sound any better sung in French.
I rather pathetically tried to order a sandwich for lunch from a menu. “I'mz zorree, I cannot underztand what youze are zayingz”.
