Slept really well, and enjoyed a whopping great breakfast put on by our wonderful hosts.
Barclay rode with us the first 20ks through Greenville town then up the sh89 to Canyon Dam, a modest 300m climb.
Fantastic views of Mt Lassen across Lake Almanor. Lots of cyclists out for a Sunday ride today. Easy to see why.
The A21 was a dream to cycle. An excellent wide road with a gentle gradient through bountiful pine forests. And yet there was no traffic at all, other than the occasional cyclist.
Long session to Bogard rest area. We enjoyed fantastic vegetarian buritos laid on by Barclay for lunch (thank you).
The sh44 busier than we'd like and is undergoing “rehabilitation” (widening and resurfacing), probably about 5 years too late. Bit of a headwind too.
We took a break in the National Forest among the lava flows. We liked the spot so much we decided to camp there.
Cloud cover rolled over and got real cold real quick.
