Journal for 30-June-2004 : Altona

Did some shopping, then wandered down to the town park. It was a beautiful warm sunny day, and a stiff cross/head wind suggesting it was an excellent day to take off. Very nice.

Altona was formed as a Masonite Mennonite community and many of these traditions continue here to this day. Lots of the women wear plain dresses and a curious felt hat. Cycling (at a very low speed) is a very popular for of transport here, and there is a local bike and rider licensing system. So there is a lot to like about Altona.
