| Date: 23/02/2002 (Location=Mossburn, Dist=102km, Total=973km) Nice riding along the fringes of lake Wakatipu with intermittent clouds and rain threaterning. Sensational scenery though. A great 20km after Kingston with the tailwind and gentle descent had us flying. Not so many other cyclists today (this route is not in the LP guide). Those poor sods were slogging uphill into a gale. Lunch at Athol. Getting windier. The scenery is deterioriating again, now it's only very nice. Rain could be seen falling on the mountains lining our valley. By the turnoff at Five Rivers we were riding into the 40k+ breeze. Very hard going, and we stopped short of Mossburn proper at the Motor Park. << Prev - Next >> |
