| Date: 26/02/2002 (Location=Luxmore Hut (Kepler, Dist=0km, Total=1037km) 18.5km of hiking, and over 1000m altitude gained. The "Kepler Track" is one of New Zealand's "Great Walks" and is maintained and promoted by the Department of Conservation (DOC). They are very easily graded and exceptionally well maintained, but they are not exactly "easy". The climb up to Luxmore Hut is rather persistent, with abut seventeen hundred switchbacks to negotiate through News Zealans's ever present Beach Forrets until the tree line is reached.
