Journal for 31-Mar-2004 : Auckland |

Walked down to the dentist and let him spend two hours drilling and probing at my teeth. Not exactly something I'd especially recommend.
In the afternoon we caught the bus into town, and back again. This effectively filled up most of the day! Auckland is something of a motorway city. Of course the problem with building more roads is they bring more traffic. It works for a while, but once people decide they can live and work at opposite ends of the motorway then the problem the new road is designed to fix is made worse. Auckland looks a classic example of this, with a mere one million people stretching the extensive motorway network to the point petrol taxes are set to rise to fund the construction of more motorways.
