Journal for 25-Nov-2003 : Apollo Bay |
---|
Almost an early start. A bit too cold to genuinely start early.
Incredibly pretty scenery on this part of the Great Ocean Road. The scenery and the ocean might be great, but the road surface is a shocker.
We didn't have too much trouble with the climb up Laver's Hill. We had more trouble leaving the bakehouse.
Met another Japanese cyclist riding Gold Coast to Perth. "Nullarbor have caravan park?"
Very pleasant surroundings climbing across the Otway ranges. Glad to get to Apollo Bay. By the afternoon the traffic was starting to pickup, and the fun factor on the descents was limited by the need to be constantly looking over our shoulders.
Even though we rode three times as far and managed nearly 1000m of vertical climbing, neither of us are anywhere near as tired as yesterday.
