Journal for 8-Aug-2003 : Bourke and Wills Roadhouse |
---|
Late start (we're still getting this bush camping sorted out) which was probably a mistake as despite the light tailwind, it was very hot again.
We really went through the water today, riding the last 10ks to the roadhouse without any.
Lots of subtle vegetation changes today, if not much in the way of geographic variation. Yes, this is flat looking country.
The roadhouse has all the service, quality and value for money we've come to expect of Australian roadhouses, with the lovely septic scent of toilet block everywhere as an added bonus.
Set up the tent on the only small patch of grass used for the relief of caravan owner's pets.
Lots of huge road trains overnighted at the roadhouse, as well as a helicopter!
+34C in the shade today. In spite of our luxurious surroundings, I'm glad not to be riding further. We couldn't carry enough water for two nights on the road in this weather.
