Journal for 1-May-2004 : Oakdale |
---|
Flat day cycling across the valley in sunny hot weather. Lots of road kill, sunshine and flat deserted roads with a modest headwind. A lot like cycling in Australia. Again, America went from fabulous to terrible in half a mile. On the J9 the traffic went from non-existent to extremely heavy and somewhat less than generous with their passing room (unusual for America). I was run off the road by horse truck. Rather pleased to be able to head onto the back roads into Oakdale.
Oakdale had a nice town park, but full of people siting around drinking.
Bought lunch ingredients at a Mexican supermarket, where everything was labeled in Spanish. Smelled very nice though.
